Catering

The Chef at Forest Lodge has been with us over 25 years and has a vast amount of experience. The Chef prides himself on creating meals with an exceptional standard. Our chef prepares fresh food daily on site and will find out your favourite dishes to look after your nutritional requirements.

Upon admission each resident is assisted by the chef to complete a diet form, which forms your likes and dislikes and special diet if required.

The Chef and Manager work together with the input of our residents to provide a well-balanced nutritional 4 week rotating menu. Meals are balanced and nutritious and catered for the individual on a daily basis. Favourite recipes can be requested as we recognise that these can make the difference in enjoying your meal and not. We have designated ‘World Day’, so different cuisines around the world, Pakistani Cuisine Day consists of, Curries, Chapatti’s, Samosas and other delicious items, Italian Cuisine Days: Pasta, Spaghetti Bolognese, Pizza’s, French Cuisine Days, Chinese Cuisine Days: Noodles, Egg Fried Rice, and American Cuisine Days.

To make our residents feel more at home and remind them it is ‘their home’ we encourage them to invite their friends, families, and loved ones to come for mealtimes.

Our food standards agency rating is 5 which is the highest rating.

Activities

We understand the benefit of keeping active and how certain activities are enjoyable and maintain resident’s hobbies and interests. Therefore we promote our activity programmes wholeheartedly. We have a designated activity co-ordinator who creates our activity plans, arranges clubs, and helps residents to make friends, and promote general wellbeing and thus improving the quality of life. Physical activities are very important and are over looked by many; they are an essential part of daily skills, such as hand to eye co-ordination and mobility which all are linked to an individual’s independence.

Each Saturday we have the ‘Saturday Club’ who come down and carry out a wide range of activities with our residents, ranging from play board games, listening to music, dancing, beauty therapy sessions, outings to local places of interest, coffee shops, shopping centre, and other local events going on around Nottingham. This all contributes to keeping our residents in touch with the local community. This is also reinforced with all our great community links we have established in our 35 years of being established as a care home.

With being located adjacent to the Forest Recreational Ground we have the ability to take our residents and for them to enjoy the Goose Fair, Bonfire Night, and Festivals of Culture and also with Arboretum park less than two minutes away our residents get to enjoy the beautiful gardens, and all the Arboretum Festivals that go on throughout the year.

We have a good relationship with a wheelchair accessible taxi service who provides taxis for all of our residents here at Forest Lodge.

The entire home is wheelchair accessible, and when going outdoors you will be accompanied by a qualified care assistant for your safety and assistance.

The home has a passenger lift, and a chair lift to make the first floor easily accessible.

Decorating

We invite residents to bring their household items, furniture, treasured possessions, favourite photographs and mementos which will help to trigger their happy memories and important milestones in their life giving them that reassurance and peace of mind and assisting to the transition to settling in. Each bedroom at Forest Lodge is spacious allowing residents to make the bedroom “their bedroom”.

Residents are able to take advantage of our “paint your room” service. Which allows residents to pain their bedroom whatever colour they prefer, have a focus wall if they want. This has been a real inspiration for our residents, and helps them to settle in much quicker, choose colours and decorate the way they wish, as they have been doing in their own homes.

Visiting Times

Forest Lodge operates an open door visiting policy. Visiting times are usually between 9am and 6pm, but depends on individual needs. We always want Forest Lodge to feel like your home and have a enjoyable visit when your family or loved ones come therefore visiting areas are private and quite.

If you or a loved one is terminally ill, then we can arrange for visiting times to be extended if you wish to support your loved one emotionally, these arrangements can be made by speaking to the management team.
